Camping in New York and a New Jersey Sunrise

Yay! I’m so glad that I get to share with you the New York part of our story. New York has always been a dream for me to go to, so it was very surreal and exciting stepping foot on Manhattan Island for the first time.

Travelling to big cities with an RV is not easy. You can’t park that thing on any old road. We managed to find a campsite that was an hour outside of New York City and IT WAS GORGEOUS! It was one of the most scenic campsites we’ve stayed at. It was surrounded by huge trees, had a mini beach and a lake. We couldn’t believe that we were in the state of New York, just an hour outside of the big apple, and we were surrounded by so much nature and beauty.

Here are some snaps of our campsite:

Camping in New York

Right. I’d love to do a whole post on all four days of NY in one, but we took so many photos. So I’m just going to start with day one, the sunrise. We woke up at 4AM!!! yes, you read that correctly, 4am!! We drove to this awesome spot, called Liberty State Park, in New Jersey, specifcally to the spot called Flag Plaza. We got an amazing view of the sun rising over Manhattan Island, as well as a good view at the Statue of Liberty.

SUNRISE IN NJ

It was my first time seeing the Lady of Liberty and OH MY GOSH! I was so excited, I think I literally ran to the railing to see it in real life! Such a surreal moment!

Here are the snaps of our sunrise. We then went on to drive onto Manhattan Island and spend the day cycling through the busy streets. We stayed and watched the sunset, so I’m sure you can imagine, it was a lOOOOOONG day for us!!
